This page is dedicated to press releases about the Italian Program at the University of Ottawa

1. The #languageangels initiative is on again for the winter of 2017! See an article in Orvietonews about this initiative  here; and an article on the Faculty of Arts website here.

In the winter semester of 2017 the Unitre dell'Alto Orvietano is joining forces with the Italian program at the University of Ottawa to realize a first-year Italian course that is thoroughly unique!

Students in Italian1912 (blended) have the privilege of Skyping weekly with a group of Italian tutors (we call them #languageangels) from 5 municipalities in Umbria, Italy.

To find out more about this program, please read some of the articles published here and here and here about the past edition.

2. In the fall of 2015 RAI International paid a visit to the Italian Progarm at the University of Ottawa. You can see the documentary here!

And please contact me if you need more information...

Who I am:

I am a scholar, a poet and an associate professor of Italian Studies at the University of Ottawa, where I direct the Italian Program. In April 2016, I became President of the Canadian Association of Italian Studies.

I have a laurea in political philosophy from the University of Venice, where I graduated cum laude with Professor Alessandro Biral as a supervisor. I also have an MA in medieval history and a PhD in Italian literature from the University of Illinois. My research interests concentrate on the crossroad of literature, philosophy and politics.

I published three poetry collections: Tigers and the CEO (Guernica, Fall 2014), Exhale, Exale, (Guernica, 2010) and Taprobana Tea (Campanotto, Udine 2010). I have widely published on Renaissance and contemporary literature and am presently working on a manuscript on political theater and on another one on possible worlds.

With Charles Klopp, I co-edited Cronache dal cielo stretto (Forum, 2013), on writers of the Italian Northeast. I also coedited Mediterranoesis, on the Mediterranean in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Where I live:

For most of the year I enjoy living in Ottawa.
